| Description: | | Please accept our invitation to attend the 11th Annual Meeting of the Prairie Pesticide Minor Use Consortium (PPMUC). The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Potato Growers of Alberta, 6008 46th Avenue, in Taber, AB on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. The meeting is scheduled to start at 1:30 pm. The Consortium was formed in December 2000, with the aim to facilitate the registration of pest management products for the crops and commodities produced by its members. The annual meeting will start off with a brief business meeting to review the financial report, status of minor use requests and emergency registrations and election of directors.
Following the business meeting, PPMUC members and guests will have the privilege of meeting and hearing from John Worgan, Director General, Value & Sustainability Assessment Directorate, Pest Management Regulatory Agency, Ottawa, ON. Mr. Worgan will provide an update on policy issues affecting minor use registration and general pesticide registration and harmonization.
We will also have a minor use research update from the Scott Research Station, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Scott, Saskatchewan. This year, Mr. Eric Johnson, Weed Biologist and Minor Use Researcher at Scott, will make the presentation. The Scott Research Station has an extensive weed management research program including trials on chickpea, lentil, alfalfa seed crops, grass forages and various other special crops.
Anyone interested in current minor use pesticide issues is urged to attend. Individuals working as Pesticide Applicators or Certified Crop Advisors will be able to obtain an educational credit. There is no registration charge for attending the annual meeting.
